We have 5 different categories of rooms at The Villa Bentota. At the entry level, we have 4 Standard Rooms, some on the Ground Floor and some on the First floor. There are 3 Superior Rooms, 2 of which have an interconnecting door on their balcony. We have one Family Room, and then 5 suites, including one Pool Suite. Finally we have the Mohotti Suite, which has two bedrooms and a separate Sitting Room.
Bentota is on the south west coast of Sri Lanka, almost exactly half way between Colombo and Galle. Transfer time from Colombo International airport is 1 hour.
We offer an a la carte menu, as well as a 3 course set menu (which has 4 or 5 choices per course) and which changes on a daily basis depending on what is fresh in the market that day. 95% of the produce we use is sourced locally. For that special occasion, we have a romantic dinner tent we set up in the garden for a small extra charge. We also offer themed nights, including beachside BBQs.
We can provide pescatarian, vegetarian, gluten free meals, as well as guests who are celiacs.
We do have a spa at The Villa Bentota. Our Therapists come from nearby and are blind, which means their sensory perception is that much greater, offering amazing massages.
Sadly there is not enough space in the hotel for a gym, but should you wish to avail yourself of a gym, the front desk staff will be happy to organise for you to visit a gym outside the hotel. We can.
From The Villa Bentota, guests can make a trip down to Galle and visit the Fort, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are plenty of other activities, such a a visit to Lunaganga, home of Geoffrey Bawa, or Brief, the home of Bevis Bawa – both have interesting gardens. There is one of the oldest temples in Sri Lanka nearby, or guests can go on a river safari, visit a traditional mask making factory. There is plenty more information on our website.
There is lots for guests to do whilst staying at the hotel, from river safaris, temple visits, garden tours, masking making factory visits and waterpsorts.
The Villa Bentota is approximately 60 minutes from Galle Fort. We can provide transport to and from the Fort which does not require booking in advance.
The Villa Bentota has a 20 metre infinity pool as well as a children’s pool, and 2 restaurants.
The hotel is perfect for honeymooners and couples. The rooms are all very private, and meals can be taken in their rooms.
We have one Pool Suite, which does have a private plunge pool.
We host retreats throughout the year, with a variety of themes from yoga, personal development, to lymphatic health, facial sculpting and deep inner restoration. These are all hosted by visiting practicioners.
We greatly welcome solo travellers.

We host numerous weddings at the hotel, and we can cater up to 300 guests. We usually working with a local event planner, and we require a minimum 2 day buyout for an event.
