We have five different categories of rooms at Kahanda Kanda. Plantation Honeymoon Villa – Dubu is our top room – an old Joglo house from Indonesia and not reserved only for honeymooners, but for those looking for something special. We have 3 Plantation Luxury Pool Villas – all different in style but offering bathtubs as well as showers in the bathrooms. There are 4 Plantation Pool Villas (without bathtubs), 5 Jungle Plantation Pool Villas, 2 Plantation Villas and 2 Plantation Suites.

As the crow flies, KK is 5km inland from the southern coast of Sri Lanka, on a 14 acre working tea estate. The hotel is 7km from Habaraduwa and 18km from Galle. Transfer time from Colombo International airport is 2 hours.

We offer an a la carte menu, as well as a 3 course set menu (which has 4 or 5 choices per course) and which changes on a daily basis depending on what is fresh in the market that day. 95% of the produce we use is sourced locally. For that special occasion, we have a romantic dinner tent we set up in the garden for a small extra charge. We also offer in-room picnics for our guests.

We can provide pescatarian, vegetarian, gluten free meals, as well as guests who are celiacs. We can also prepare weight loss menus for long stay guests who want to lose some weight

We have lovely spa building at KK, with three massage treatment rooms (1 double and 2 singles), 2 consultation rooms and an open-air yoga shala on the first floor. We offer a variety of massage treatments, as well as shiatsu, and daily yoga classes. We also have a mud baking area, where guests cover themselves in a special mud and bake in the sun, helping to remove toxins from the skin. We have an Ayurvedic doctor who guests can consult with if they wish to follow a course of Ayurvedic diet and treatments

At KK, there is a fully equipped air-conditioned gym, and we can provide a personal trainer if needed. We have bicycles for guests to use on their own, or we can provide a guide to escort them around the local villages, etc.

From Kahanda Kanda guests can do a day safari trip to Yala National Park, renowned for the fact that it has the highest density of leopard, anywhere in the world. Guests can do a shorter trip to Udawalawe National Park, where they can see herds of elephants, crocodiles and other wildlife, but unlikely to see leopard. Guests can also go to Mirissa to go whale watching, visit Handunugoda Tea estate and discover the entire process from plucking to roasting to tasting!

There are plenty of activities for guests to enjoy whilst staying at the hotel. They range from cookery classes, bike rides, visits to a rain forest, boat trip on Koggala Lake, canoeing, walking tour around Galle Fort, or visit a local cinnamon estate and learn all about cinnamon.

Kahanda Kanda is approximately 25 minutes from Galle Fort. We can provide transport to and from the Fort which does not require booking in advance.

Kahanda Kanda has a 20 metre infinity pool, restaurant, gym and spa building.

The hotel is perfect for honeymooners and couples. The rooms are all very private, and meals can be taken in their rooms, and with no children under 12, it is a very relaxed and informal atmosphere.

We have a total of 13 rooms with private plunge pools, and all pools are well screened off with planting, to provide the maximum privacy for the guests.

We host retreats throughout the year, with a variety of themes from yoga, personal development, to lymphatic health, facial sculpting and deep inner restoration. These are all hosted by visiting practicioners.

We greatly welcome solo travellers.

We would be more than happy if you chose to stay in more than one of our hotels and we can offer a free transfer between the two properties.

We have hosted many weddings at Kahanda Kanda over the years, usually working with a local event planner. The only restriction we have is the maximum number of guests which is 100 pax.
