Sustainability Policy

We understand corporate sustainability as a proactive approach to ensure the long-term viability, profitability and integrity of the business. As a boutique hotel group operating in several regions in the country, we remain committed to continue our heritage of exemplary corporate citizenship by aligning our sustainability strategies with global initiatives on sustainable development.

Policy statement

KK Collection Hotels strives to:

  1. Exceed all legal and other requirements necessary for the sustainable operation and development of our company
  2. Use environmental management systems in all organizational operations and activities and commit to prevent pollution
  3. Engage with stakeholders, consider their opinions at all stages of planning and operations
  4. Encourage supply chains to implement and manage sustainable strategies
  5. Inculcate sustainability concepts and views in strategic decision making
  6. Use sustainable processes in organizational operations considering all relevant risks
  7. Promote innovation in the processes and products & services provided to customers
  8. Continually enhance the quality of products, services and value provided to customers while ensuring profitability
  9. Get involved in community development projects and ensure employee participation
  10. Support local communities by providing employment and purchasing from local suppliers wherever possible
  11. Use the occupational health and safety management system as a basis to provide employees with a safe and healthy working environment
  12. Harness a strong and competitive human resource
  13. Support and promote the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights
  14. Report performance in a timely and accurate manner for the benefit of our stakeholders
  15. Be diligent to information security and comply with all relevant rules, regulations, industry standards and guidelines to safeguard the internal information assets, maintain information confidentiality, integrity and availability
  16. Avoid depicting attitudes that are discriminatory or offensive to a gender, religion, ethnicity, culture or a social group; or are politically biased in company’s communications
  17. Uphold annual performance review and planning
  18. Support and promote the protection of internationally proclaimed ethical treatment of animals

Implementation

KK Collection Hotel Management and the Sustainability division will be responsible on setting guidelines and giving direction.

For internal circulation, a policy statement will be accompanied by documents containing action points on each tier of implementation and explanatory notes.

Strategic business units will work towards gradual adherence of the policy through a tier system of implementation, bearing in mind the degree of relevance to its industry.

Awareness and training programs to facilitate the implementation of the policy would be undertaken where necessary.

Environmental Policy

The importance of the environment is ingrained into KK Collection Hotels. Our aim is to create an equilibrium between people, planet, and profit with our environmental policy, setting the tone to our sustainable journey.

  1. We are committed to proactively identify potential environmental and social impacts from the operation and establish mitigation strategies within the hotel business.
  2. At KK Collection Hotels, we are committed to comply with all applicable laws and regulations at national and international levels alongside other environmental related requirements.
  3. We adhere to this through the continual improvement to our environmental management system and the prevention of pollution.
  4. We are committed to incorporating good environmental practices into our corporate diction making and our operations.
  5. Procedures and practices are in place to minimize waste and encourage segregation of solid waste through the 7R waste elimination system with the aim of zero waste-to-landfill.
  6. We will continually train, educate, and develop our employees on good environmental practices and environmental issues.

KK Collection Hotels has undertaken a long-term commitment to ensure the continual improvement of the environmental policy, objectives and programmes periodically, to achieve an historic policy that embraces our value, culture and the changes of the world we live in.

Purchasing and Supplier Policy

The policy has been designed to reduce negative environmental, social, and economic impacts on the destinations in which KK Collection Hotels is operating.

  1. KK Collection Hotels strive to achieve environmentally sound purchases and work with service providers who are aligned with this policy.
  2. We also ensure that priority is given to local products and seek local service providers before seeking national or international providers wherever possible.
  3. Our criterion for evaluation includes factors such as cost, quality, duration, extent to which the goods or services met the specified requirements, as well as social and environmental good practices of our suppliers.
  4. Whenever possible, we inform our suppliers, service providers and contractors of the preference for environmentally sound products and services which meet sustainability standers; such as FSC certified paper, Energy star rated, FairTrade certified products, etc.
  5. We also ensure that wherever possible, we utilize upcycled or recycled products.
  6. We strive to look for products with eco-conscious packaging and give preference to purchase in bulk, to minimize waste.
  7. We consider the risk management principles and ensure that the goods and services being purchased are developed using a safe design approach to minimize the risk of failure and harm to the consumers.

Community Engagement Policy

The communities surrounding KK Collection hotels are an integral part of our system. As such, KK Collection hotels is committed to supporting and working with the local communities in which we are based. We are committed to operating our business in a way that helps preserve and promote the culture and heritage of the destination as well as the local economy. Goals for community engagement include;

  1. Supporting initiatives that improve the community.
  2. Supporting the local economy
  3. Respecting and protecting local culture, traditions, and way of life.
  4. Supporting and protecting access to essential resources and services.

What we do to achieve our goals;

  1. We encourage guests to explore the history, culture and traditions of the destination and our local community as well as the local products and services that are on offer.
  2. We encourage our guests to support our community work by conducting regular charity drives and by inviting them to participate in our charity events where possible.
  3. We provide our guests with guidance on how to behave responsibly outside of the hotels with respect to local people, flora, and fauna.
  4. Where possible, we give preference to local products and services as stated in our purchasing policy.
  5. We give preference to local staff in the recruitment process.
  6. We make yearly financial contributions to various local charities.
  7. We provide internship training programs for students who study at hotel schools with financial support.

Health and Safety

KK Collection Hotels offer all employees a sound and safe working environment. We continuously work to prevent accidents and injuries that occur in the workplace. We carry out and document regular health and safety training and will undertake corrective measures to reduce risk when such areas are identified.

Child labour and Forced labour

No form of child labour or labour involving minors is allowed. KK Collection Hotels does not allow any form of forced labour, slave labour or any other forms of work carried out against ones will in our operations. The minimum age for employment is 18 years of age.
